Pennsylvania Only State In Region With Gas Prices Above $3 A Gallon

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The national average for gas has hit a new high for the year at $2.88 a gallon.

AAA says Western Pennsylvania motorists are paying $3.10 on average, up about 6 cents from last week.


Pennsylvania is the only state in the region with prices above three dollars, but a group of others are only a few cents away from being there too. Connecticut is at $2.99, Washington D.C. $2.96 and New York at $2.95.

But a handful of others are just pennies away from being there: Connecticut ($2.99), Washington, D.C. ($2.96) and New York ($2.95).

Pennsylvania has the highest gas tax in the nation with 58.7 cents of every gallon going to the commonwealth.
