PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The suspect in the fentanyl overdose deaths of three people and non-fatal overdoses of three more was arraigned in federal court Thursday afternoon.
25-year-old Peter Rene Sanchez Montalvo dressed in a gray-striped prison jump suit and shackled didn't speak during a brief hearing Thursday afternoon.
His public defender pleaded not guilty before federal magistrate Cynthia Reed Eddy.
His lawyer asked for a jury trial.
Montalvo, who also goes by Carlos, faces seven counts for possessing and distributing fentanyl at a South Side party last weekend.
Three of the partiers died that night.
The defense agreed to waive a detention hearing meaning Montalvo will be held without bond.
