PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Rodney Smith Jr.'s mission to lend a hand to those in need and our nation's heroes brought him through Pittsburgh Thursday.

Smith is the founder of Raising Men Lawn Care Service.


They provide free lawn care to the elderly, the disabled, single moms and veterans.

Smith, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, recently completed a quest to mow lawns for veterans in all 50 states is now in the middle of his "Mowing With Cops" campaign

Smith joined Pittsburgh Police to the lawn of a veteran and retired firefighter Raymond Washington.

The Zone 2 officers were happy to help Smith, who drove all the way down from Maine to be in Pittsburgh as he continues his trek to give back all across the country.

Smith, who has a special police mower, says on his website "The goal of this tour is not just to have officers mow with me and to thank them for their service, but to also bring the  community together around those who serve and protect us."
