PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio KDKA) — Allegheny County sent out a note Friday that is reminding local voters of the looming deadline for the May 18 primary election applications.
The Elections Division must receive any application by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, for those individuals who want to vote by mail-in or absentee ballot.
The County is encouraging those who intend to vote to fill out their applications as soon as possible.
The best way to apply is by using the Vote PA website.
Additionally, the County is also imploring expected in-person voters to use the site to verify their information before heading to the polls.
Signing up doesn't have to be done solely digitally, either.
Individuals can also go to the Elections Division office and apply in person.
The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The entire process will take place in the office.
As of May 6, 117,460 applications have been approved for mail-in or absentee voting.

The polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Any voter that's in line at the 8 p.m. deadline will be able to vote.
As a reminder, people will be asked for their identification, so make sure to have it.
Those voters who want to return their mail-in or absentee ballots in person can do so by visiting the Elections Division office during business hours.
And beginning on May 12, those returning ballots can also drop them off in the lobby of the County Office Building.
However, those ballots cannot be returned to any polling places, not even the designated location in your precinct.
The hours for returning ballots are as followed:
Friday, May 7: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m @ Elections Division Office, 542 Forbes Avenue, 6th Floor
Monday, May 10: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m @ Elections Division Office
Tuesday, May 11: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. @ Elections Division Office
Wednesday, May 12: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby, 542 Forbes Avenue
Thursday, May 13: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby
Friday, May 14: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby
Saturday, May 15: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby
Sunday, May 16: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby
Monday, May 17: 8:30 to 8 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby
Tuesday, May 18: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. @ County Office Building Lobby
Additionally, the Elections Division office can reissue ballots if an original was never received, an error was detected, or if it was damaged.
Voters who change their minds can take their ballots and declaration envelopes to their polling location and surrender them for the in-person voting opportunity instead.
Those who make that decision will be asked to sign a confirmation of that choice.
At that point, the voter can now cast their ballot normally.
And people who change their minds but do not provide the ballot and declaration envelope can still vote but will have to do so with a provisional ballot.
Lastly, there will be 1,323 polling locations open on Election Day.
The County asks those who plan to vote in-person to wear their masks.
Face coverings will be offered if you arrive without one, though.
Voting locations can be verified on the PA Voter Service website.
