Another season of high school basketball is here, with the KDKA Radio Game of the Week, Powered by Bowser Chevrolet, beginning this Friday with North Hills at New Castle.

This season, KDKA Radio will again nominate players each week to join the KDKA Radio Super 7 Awards watch list. Every Monday, a new crop of players will be unveiled based on their efforts that previous week. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will announce the winners of the award for each WPIAL classification, as well as the Pittsburgh City League.


Here are the preseason boys players to watch in each WPIAL classification and City League.

BOYS CLASS 1A

Courtney Wallace, Neighborhood Academy: The 6-3 senior scored 24.3 points per game last year and is committed to Yale.

Jacob Guillen, Aquinas Academy: Scored 20.6 points per game last season as Aquinas made the WPIAL quarterfinals.

Owen Dumbroski, Serra Catholic: Scored 15 points per game last season for Eagles, who now move down from Class 2A.

Shamar Simpson, Neighborhood Academy: The senior guard averaged 13.0 points per game and will be a key piece of preseason favorites in 1A.

Devontae Robinson, Monessen: Despite losing Lorenzo Gardner, Greyhounds will again be in the mix thanks to Robinson, a tenacious guard.

BOYS CLASS 2A

Brandon Martin, Greensburg Central Catholic: Only a sophomore, the 6-6 guard scored 13.8 points per last year and has already picked up an offer from Marshall.

Lucas Stanley, Union: The bruising 6-3 forward racked up 22.5 points per game last year for the Scotties, who reached the PIAA playoffs.

Andrew Corfield, South Side: The 6-2 junior guard averaged 19.3 points last year for the Rams.

David Kwiat, Neshannock: All-section performer who leads Lancers as they move down from Class 3A.

Shane Cornali, Fort Cherry: The Rangers should contend for a title again as Cornali returns after scoring over 16 points per last year.

BOYS CLASS 3A

Josh Pratt, Aliquippa: Division I recruit who guided the Quips to a second straight WPIAL title and a PIAA championship last year while averaging 17 points per game.

Bobby Fadden, Mohawk: Averaged 21.2 points last year as Mohawk made the WPIAL semifinals.

Drew Cook, South Allegheny: Gladiators will be in prime contention for a title as they return Cook, who scored 18 per game last year.

Luke Scarff, South Park: 6-8 junior who averaged a remarkable 19.7 points and 19 rebounds per game last year for the Eagles.

Pat Weldon, Seton LaSalle: 6-2 senior guard who received all-section honors and racked up 15.2 points last season.

BOYS CLASS 4A

Rowan Carmichael, Avonworth: Dynamic guard who averaged 23.2 points per game as Lopes made WPIAL semifinals.

Zion Moore, Belle Vernon: Led the WPIAL in scoring last season at 26.3 points per game and has received an offer from Edinboro.

Brady Mayo, Beaver: Helped the Bobcats to the postseason last year while putting up 25 points per game.

Jackson Bauman, Knoch: After averaging 16.5 points last year, the junior will lead a title contender this year.

Isaiah Jeter, Central Valley: Put up over 21 points per game for the Warriors, who win 14 games.

BOYS CLASS 5A

Ama Tening Sow, Montour: 6-10 forward who is committed to Division I UT Martin and who scored over 16 per game last year.

Jayden Davis, Chartiers Valley: One of area's most explosive guards who averaged 19 points last season.

Nate Wesling, Baldwin: Helped the Highlanders reach the 2024 WPIAL 6A Championship Game while scoring 15.8 points per game.

Notorious Grooms, Uniontown: Leads one of Class 5A's favorites and has already scored over 1,000 career points.

Michael Santicola, Moon: Averaged 11 points per game last year and is committed to Division II power Nova Southeastern.

BOYS CLASS 6A

Tyler Robbins, Upper St. Clair: Elite shot blocker and reigning 6A KDKA Player of the Year who helped the Panthers to a WPIAL title in 2024.

Ralphie Blundo, New Castle: Three-point threat who scored 22.3 points per game last season.

Zach Pollaro, North Hills: Will play an even bigger role for the Indians after averaging 18.5 points per game last year.

RJ Sledge, Imani Christian: Combo guard with a handful of Division I offers. Scored over 10.5 points per game last year.

Bradley Gompers, Central Catholic: Duke football commit and physical force in post who scored 11.4 points per game in 2023-24.

BOYS CITY LEAGUE 

Trey Schachter, Allderdice: Long guard who enters his senior year with a bigger role after scoring 10 points per last season.

Naron Jackson, Obama Academy: Helped the Eagles to the City League finals by scoring 11 points per game.

Brayden Fisher, Carrick: One of the City League's best scorers last season, averaging 18 points per.

Lukas Stead, Allderdice: Bruising forward who excels on the football field and will get more looks in the post this season.

Elijah Rawlings, Obama Academy: Returning starter for Obama Academy, which nearly upset Allderdice for the City League title last winter.
