There were reports of loose livestock in Butler County last week.

In Adams Township, homeowners in Brookhaven have filed nearly three dozen complaints about cattle getting through a broken fence at a nearby farm and damaging property.

The township's board of supervisors considered Monday a proposal to fine farmers up to 600 dollars for nuisance animals.

The Post-Gazette reports around 30 residents signed up to speak at last night's meeting.

Each of them opposed the ordinance during a meeting described as contentious.

When it was over, every supervisor voted against the ordinance.
