27 dogs are now in the care of Human Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh after they were rescued from a residence in North Fayette Township.
With help from the North Fayette Police Department, the rescue found 27 dachshunds inside the property, “suffering from malnourishment, dental disease, many have large clumps of matted fur, overgrown nails (which can make walking difficult), and several appear to have eye infections.”
One dog was found dead.
Police were alerted after neighbors shared concerns over unsanitary conditions and for the welfare of the dogs.
The animals were talked to the rescue’s East Side domestic shelter.
They were evaluated by veterinarians and the animal care team then given the care and treatments necessary.
