Northside Catholic Assumption Academy moving to e-learning after COVID cases

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio KDKA) — Representatives from Northside Catholic Assumption Academy in the Brighton Heights area announced Wednesday that a sixth positive COVID-19 test has been confirmed in the past eight days.

In compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the school will now be moving to remote learning for seven days.

At this point, the time frame for e-learning is dependent on the number of positive COVID cases from a facility.

With Wednesday's case being the sixth, the school will be making the shift for a week.

The digital schooling will begin on April 29 and go through May 5.

The school will be closed until May 6.

Parents and families of the students have been notified already regarding the newest COVID case.

"Understanding the challenges that COVID-19 and this closure will present for our families, it is in the best interest of our school to take every precaution possible to keep our students, teachers, staff, and school community as safe as possible," said Rosanne Kwiatkowski the Northside Catholic Assumption Academy principal.

"Our priority is their safety."
