At the beginning of May, President Joe Biden quadrupled the number of refugees to accepted into the United States this year.

Now the City of Pittsburgh is encouraging local landlords to rent to refugees that settle in Allegheny County.

The city's Welcoming Pittsburgh initiative hosted a webinar last week titled "Refugees in Allegheny County" hoping to educate landlords on opportunities to rent to refugees.

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto's office says so far, 24 landlords have agreed to participate.

Biden bumped up the number of refugees allowed in the U.S. to 62,500, an increase from the 15,000 previously set by the Trump administration. Biden said Trump's "historically low" number "did not reflect America's values as a nation that welcomes and supports refugees."
