Pittsburgh City Council could vote Monday on proposed legislation to stop city police from making traffic stops for minor violations.
Council moved forward with the legislation introduced by Councilman Rev. Ricky Burgess in November.
If council approves, city police would no longer be able to pull people over for minor violations, such as a taillight or headlight being out.
Police also wouldn't be able to pull drivers over if their vehicle inspection, registration or emissions sticker is less than 60-days expired, or if the license plate is not placed property, but is still visible.
