Congressman Conor Lamb spoke with KDKA Radio's Marty Griffin about the threat to the U.S. Capitol on Thursday.
The Associated Press reports that authorities had evidence of a "possible plot" by a militia group to storm the Capitol again, less than two months after the actions of January 6.
To Lamb, it's important to take these threats seriously and he understands why. They discussed what happened on that Wednesday in January. Marty mentioned that the data suggested that over 30% of the arrests made during the capitol riots had a military background.
"I think that number's going to climb," Congressman Lamb said. "We have a lot of veterans in Western Pennsylvania. We have to be clear about this. If you are a veteran and you swore to the Constitution, there's only one side of this argument for you and that is it's wrong to overthrow the government."
Congressman Lamb also talked about minimum wage on the show. Marty asked if he was in favor of raising the minimum wage in chunks rather than all at once because that seemed more realistic. Lamb agreed, saying that he voted for a bill that would raise the minimum wage to $11 next year, and over time up to $15 by 2026.
"I thought it was a pretty careful approach," Congressman Lamb said. "They stripped it out in the senate because they didn't think it was directly related to the budget. But we're going to continue to try to raise it in some form."
