PA again adds almost 9,000 positive COVID-19 cases

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) The Pennsylvania Health Department has added 8,992 cases of COVID-19 to the statewide total.

These new cases bring the total past or present case count to 640,325.


In the daily COVID-19 update, the Health Department also added 306 new deaths related to coronavirus, bringing the death toll in Pennsylvania to 15,978.

The Health Department stated that there are currently 5,962 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 complications; 1,178 patients are in intensive care units.

Most of the deaths and hospitalizations are attributed to people over the age of 65.

Mask wearing is still required in all businesses or any time leaving home; consistent mask wearing is a critical part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Approximately 19,256 cases are among health care workers throughout the state.

In Allegheny County, the last 24 hours saw 811 new positive cases, and 10 deaths.

Allegheny County has seen 53,809 cases and 955 deaths.

Since March 14, there have been 3,204 individuals hospitalized in Allegheny County.
