The Pirates lineup took a blow before Wednesday's rubber match against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Left fielder Bryan Reynolds have been scratched from the game due to back spasms.
The organization says he is being "examined and treated by the Pirates medical staff."
He's considered day-to-day.
Joshua Palacios will replace Reynolds in left field and will bat 6th.
Palacios is batting .233 with an OBP .735.
Reynolds is batting .288 on the year with on OPS of .839, 61 RBI and 18 home runs.
He had one hit and walked during Tuesday night's loss to the Cardinals.
