The 2021 Major League Baseball season is quickly approaching and with experience from last year, the league is determined to have a full 162 game season amid the continuing pandemic.
With the hopes of full season getting played, USA Today has released its annual predictions for the season and if you’re a Pirates fan, it could be a long one.
The six-person panel predicts the Pirates will be at the bottom of the National League Central Division with a 57-105 record, the worst in all of baseball.
“It may be worse than it looks for the Pirates, whose shortened-season .317 win percentage translates to 51-111 over 162 games. And that’s before they traded Joe Musgrove,” states USA Today.
The paper predicts the complete opposite for the defending World Series Champs, having the Los Angeles Dodgers going 105-57.
It’s predicted the St. Louis Cardinals will take the N.L. Central with a 90-72 record.
While these are just predictions, the Pirates are currently focusing on their younger players and looking toward a brighter future so 2021 could be full of some growing pains.
