LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price was charged with embezzlement, perjury and conflict of interest, according to the Los Angeles Times.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told the outlet Price was charged with five counts of grand theft, three counts of perjury and two counts of conflict of interest.

Further details regarding the charges have not been released at this time.

Price joins several city councilmembers who have been a part of scandals.

In March, Mark Ridley-Thomas was convicted of bribery, fraud, and conspiracy charges for accepting a bribe from the dean of USC's School of Social Work when he served as a Los Angeles County supervisor in exchange for Ridley-Thomas’ son to go to the school with full tuition as well as a paid professorship.

In January, former city Councilman José Huizar pleaded guilty to two federal charged in a bribery and money laundering scheme.

In October 2022, audio of a racially charged conversation among then-City Council President Nury Martinez, Councilmembers Kevin de León and Gil Cedillo, and L.A. County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrrera was leaked on Reddit. Martinez and Herrera resigned.

Price has represented the Ninth District since 2013.
