If you are like me, you look forward to St. Patrick's day every year. I am not really sure why, but it has always been my second favorite holiday, right after Halloween.
What other day of the year do you get to celebrate with drinks at a pub, good food and green beer, and some kickass music.
Obviously, this year is a bit different. With Covid-19 running rampant in our city, social distancing is important now more than ever. Especially with the looming bar and restaurant ban, how are we to celebrate this St. Paddy's Day?
Well, let me tell you, the best way? How about pouring yourself some Irish whisky, cozing up on your couch, and streaming a Dropkick Murphys concert!
For the first time in 24 years, the band isn't playing an actual live show in Boston this year. Well, in the capacity that they normally do. They usually do an entire St. Patrick's Day weekend, culminating in a huge concert on St. Patrick's Day. Well this year, given the current climate and fear of spreading the virus, they decided to do a fully live streamed concert, for free that will come out on Tuesday!
"Streaming Up From Boston," a free Dropkicks' concert, will be available on their YouTube, Instagram and Facebook Live pages.
The concert will be broadcast at 7 p.m. EST. (That's 4PM for us West coasters!)
It will be a full concert, which is even more exciting. Not just a few songs.
So even though we may not get to celebrate St. Paddy's the way we normally do, at a bar with friends, the spirit of St.Patrick's Day remains the same. It is a time, while we must keep our distance, celebrate safetly, and be good to one another.
Hope to see you in the virtual pit! Stay safe friends. And Happy St. Patrick's Day!
