DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Dallas juvenile curfew, that's been in effect in Dallas for nearly three decades, came to an end Friday. Dallas city officials and police say they want to introduce a new curfew, but with fewer penalties.

The expiring curfew was in effect during school hours, as well as overnight hours seven days a week. Supporters of the current curfew guidelines say it protects the community.

In order for the curfew to be reinstated, there must be at least two public hearings on the issue. The city council is expected to vote on a new curfew in the near future.
