With hurricane Laura bearing down on the Texas coast, one concern is animals and the Humane society of North Texas is doing what it can to help get them out of harm's way.
The Humane Society of North Texas was able to fly 80 pets from the Texas Gulf Coast to a local North Texas airport before Hurricane Laura hits.
Cassie Davidson with the humane society says they were able to rescue all kinds of animals including 56 cats, 20 dogs, and 3 rabbits.
"These pets all came to us from the Houston SPCA. Some of them are cruelty cases that have been completed and are now available for adoption" said Davidson.
Davidson says they will be taking in approximately 70 more dogs today and tomorrow from the Houston and Beaumont areas to ensure they can avoid hurricane Laura's wrath.
