Cedar Hill school trustees have agreed to close an 86-year-old elementary school because it is run down beyond repair.
Bray Elementary school located near Highway 67 and Belt Line was built in 1937 and has been expanded at least five times over the decades.
In announcing the school's closing, the school board blames the district's decline in enrollment, failed bond elections and a lack of funding.
The district has published photographs showing some of the run down conditions including mold, roofs in poor condition and plumbing issues causing sewage back-ups.
The school will close at the end of the school year. Administrators say jobs will be found for staff and faculty at other district schools. And, the district's zone boundary lines will be adjusted to accommodate Bray students at other campuses.
