The Fort Worth City Council got suggestions from both sides in the fight over regulating short-term rentals.
Opponents of short-term rentals argue they are ruining neighborhoods and should be banned altogether from residential communities. But supporters say short-term rentals provide an economic boost to the city by bringing in visitors who spend money.

They agree some regulations would help establish best practices for short-term rental hosts. These could include requiring hosts to go through training and be licensed by the city before being allowed to rent and having them establish an emergency contact with the city who could be called if there are problems like a loud party or overcrowded parking.
A market research company estimates there are over 1,500 active short-term rentals in Fort Worth. City leaders are still working on making changes to the 2018 ordinance that allowed such rentals.
