The Dallas Cowboys improved to 2-0 in the preseason for the first time since 2007 after a 34-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
Quarterback Joe Milton led the way with three total touchdowns. Milton completed 9 of 13 passes for 179 yards and two scores while adding a 1-yard rushing touchdown. His performance included a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Mingo and an 8-yard scoring throw to Malik Davis.
According to team reports and game coverage, Milton started and played the first half, posting a 151.4 passer rating. The outing strengthened his position in the competition for the backup job behind Dak Prescott. Sam Howell entered later and threw an interception.

The Cowboys’ offense averaged more than seven yards per play and converted over half of its third-down attempts. Running back Jaydon Blue carried 15 times for 75 yards, while the defense limited Arizona to one touchdown.
Dallas last started the preseason 2-0 in 2007, a season that ended with a 13-3 regular-season record and an NFC East title. The team opened this preseason with a win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Milton’s control of the game after the final whistle, noting the quarterback’s ability to operate at different speeds. The team returns to Frisco for additional practices before its preseason finale.
Preseason results do not count in the standings, but the early success has generated positive momentum as Dallas prepares for the regular season.
