The Dallas Zoo is preparing to show off the newest member of its warthog family. The new baby piglet was born on February 17th. Her name is Tikiti, which means "watermelon" in Swahili. She has been under constant care from zoo staffers for the past few weeks.
The animal care team noticed the newborn was not as active as they had hoped. They provided 24-hour attention, including bottle feedings and weighing her several times a day. Now, she's ready to interact with some of the other animals at the zoo.
Tikiti will make her debut soon in the zoo's Giants of the Savanna habitat. She may be accompanied by a zoologist as she gets comfortable around the other residents.
