As inflation and the job market continue to stress many Americans out, a new study finds just how much you need to make for you to have some wiggle room when it comes to your monthly budget.

According to a new study by Smart Asset that used the MIT Living Wage Calculator, single, childless people in Dallas-Fort Worth need to make $64,742 in post-tax income to live a comfortable life.

They gauge comfortability on the 50/30/20 budgeting strategy, that’s when 50 percent of your income goes towards essentials, 30 percent of your income is budgeted for wants and 20 percent goes towards savings and paying down debts.

This is an $11,000 increase from last year’s report where single people with no dependents only need to make $53,680 to be considered comfortable in the North Texas metro area.
