The unrelenting heat is forcing some North Texas school districts to push the start of high school football games to help keep everyone safe.

With no end in sight to triple-digit temperatures, several games in this first week of the high school football season will be kicking off later than normal.

Many school have games that are scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights start at 7:00 p.m. However, due to the scorching heat, many of those start times are being pushed back to 7:30 or even 8 p.m.

One of the games kicking off at 8 p.m. Friday is a matchup of two defending state champions, Duncanville and South Oak Cliff.

Triple-digit temperatures are expected to linger not only for the rest of this month, but at least for at least the first few days of September.
