Outgoing Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price announces run for Tarrant County Judge

The soon to be former Mayor of Fort Worth, Betsy Price has announced she's running for Tarrant County Judge.

The announcement came early Thursday morning.

“With the news of Glen’s retirement, I announce my intent to run for Tarrant County Judge. Not only do I have the fire and passion to continue serving the good people of our county, but my decades of business and public servant experience — both as Tarrant County Tax Assessor and Mayor of Fort Worth — make me an ideal and qualified candidate for this position critical to both our present and future,” said Price.

Price says there are a number of issues she hopes to tackle on a county level including education and public health.

Price is currently wrapping up her 10-year stint as the mayor of Fort Worth. She decided not to run for reelection.

Earlier this week, Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley announced he would not seek reelection and has officially endorsed Price.

“I enthusiastically endorse Betsy Price as the next County Judge,” said Judge Whitley. “She is smart, hard-working and conservative – the perfect fit for Tarrant County.”

Former Farmers Branch Tim O'Hare has already said he plans to run in the Republican primary for the same position.
