A Mesquite man is going to prison for in an animal cruelty case out of Dallas.
In April, Sebastian Acosta was captured and locked up on animal cruelty charges after video showed him dumping two puppies who had been bludgeoned to death.
He was indicted by a grand jury on two felony counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals. In accepting a plea deal, Acosta was sentenced yesterday to more than six years.
When the video was widely circulated, hundreds of tips came in leading detectives to Acosta.
It's believed he initially tried to sell the puppies on Craig's List and that two would-be buyers later helped identify him to police.
