The Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth has reached out to the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis following Wednesday morning's tragic Catholic School shooting that claimed the lives of two children.
Bishop Michael Olson says his initial reaction to the shooting was one of horror, repugnance, and sadness. He's calling for more than just prayer.
"We need prayer and work," Bishop Olson said.
"Our prayers, of course, for the protection of All Mighty God especially for the innocent, and for the recovery of all of those people, children and adults, who are traumatized by what they witnessed."
Bishop Olson says they take these threats very seriously.
"We have invested heavily in the last seven years in changing procedures and policies and having trained, vetted, and armed personnel at our schools," Bishop Olson said. "Protecting our children and our teachers and those who are part of our school community."
He's calling on vigilance and responsibility to be mindful of violence in the society. He wants people to defend against it.
Two children were killed and several others were hurt when a 23-year-old opened fire from outside of the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.
