North Texas residents are invited to free Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training on Saturday, June 28, spearheaded by 30-plus agencies including Dallas and Grand Prairie police.

These no-registration sessions run in multiple locations across the region, offering critical skills for everyday people in schools, churches, offices or shopping centers.

Attendees will learn the proven "Avoid, Deny, Defend" strategy developed by Texas State’s ALERRT program - covering situational awareness, real-life case studies, and life-saving mindset techniques.

Sessions typically run from 8 a.m. to noon, though times vary by location; no sign-up is needed - just show up and participate.

How to Join the Training

Visit your local police department’s website (e.g., Frisco, Grapevine, Grand Prairie, Irving, Lake Worth, McKinney) for details on session times and venues.

Arrive a few minutes early - the goal is to empower as many people as possible to act decisively until first responders arrive.

Why it Matters

Law enforcement emphasizes that early civilian action matters - officers take time to reach a scene, and immediate responses can save lives.

CRASE isn’t about tactics or engaging the shooter - it’s about making quick, smart decisions during high-stress incidents.

In short: If you live or work around North Texas, you’ve got a golden opportunity to build awareness and potentially be a lifesaver next time seconds count. Find your nearest session and take the training - it’s free, no registration, and could be priceless knowledge.
