Richardson is now one of several cities to test a new, advanced home delivery vehicle.

The next time someone living in Richardson orders a pizza, groceries, or maybe even some home improvement items it could be delivered by ROXO.

ROXO is 5 1/2 feet tall, 450 pound rectangular-box shaped robot with wheels that has the ability to hold up to 100 pounds. It was developed by Deka for FedEx out of New Hampshire and has been on some test runs here in North Texas in a neighborhood near Berkner High School.

FedEx teamed up with Richardson police and fire departments, city engineers and the homeowners association to ensure a safe test-run.

With the help of sensors, Roxo detects motion and objects up to 150 feet away. The sensors allow for travel on roads and sidewalks.

Another test run needs to happen in Richardson to compare results and tweak any concerns before letting Roxo deliver straight to your door.
