Texas Motor Speedway about to become a vaccine hub

Texas Motor Speedway will have cars lining up for a vaccine next week. Following several asks of the state, Denton County has been awarded a big increase in vaccine.

Judge Andy Eads says they will now move into TMS next week to vaccinate 10,000 people a day, after the state awarded them over 30,000 doses.


He says each person with an appointment, stays in their vehicles as they get their shot. Eads says the entire appointment should take about 30 minutes on average.

Eads says the county has more than 140,000 people are registered in their county.

In addition, more vaccine and hubs will be coming to Collin County as well.

Right now Collin County has 4 vaccine hubs. But next week they will be adding two more and will be receiving a bump in the amount of vaccine they are getting from the state.

County judge Chris Hill says they have over 200,000 registrations so far for the vaccine.

He says you must register and get an appointment and drive ups will not be accepted.

This week, Collin County received 10,000 vaccine doses. Next week, the county will receive 42,900.

Both counties say they were not getting enough vaccine, when compared to their populations.​
