The Texas Division of Emergency Management is sending additional resources to Florida to help that state recover from Hurricane Ian.
"The scope of this disaster requires a comprehensive response, and we are providing the resources needed to help affected communities," said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
The latest group from Texas headed to Florida is from the Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Science. Their Veterinary Emergency Team includes seven veterinarians, several technicians, some mobile medical platforms and two trucks. Their assignment is to provide veterinary support for more than 80 search and rescue dogs that have been deployed around the state.
The Texas Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce has also sent two 911 dispatchers, one from the Midlothian Police Department and one from the Hood County Sheriff's Office. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is sending a Disaster Assessment and Recovery Unit.
"Texas will keep swiftly deploying ongoing relief assistance as those impacted by this devastating storm rebuild and move forward," said Gov. Abbott.
