Texans can save money on emergency preparation supplies this weekend during one of the state’s sales tax holidays.
The tax-free weekend runs from Saturday through Monday and is aimed at helping residents prepare for severe weather ahead of hurricane season, which begins June 1.
Kevin Lyons, spokesperson for the Texas Comptroller’s Office, said the sales tax exemption applies to a range of emergency items — from smaller necessities like flashlights and first aid kits to larger purchases such as portable generators.
Texas holds multiple sales tax holidays each year, with this one focused specifically on encouraging preparedness for natural disasters and severe storms.
