A Collin County judge has granted a motion to seal the divorce records of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and State Senator Angela Paxton, filed July 11, after she cited adultery and “biblical grounds.”
Judge Ray Wheless approved the seal at Angela Paxton’s request - citing no public interest in airing the couple’s intimate details amid what has become a media spectacle.
While Texas courts generally open divorce filings to the public, family-law cases benefit from a relaxed standard: unlike other civil litigation, parties may simply file a protective order without following the more rigorous Rule 76a procedures.
It’s a common tactic in high-profile divorces - celebrities and public figures often do it to guard sensitive personal or financial information.
