The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected the latest request from abortion providers in Texas fighting the state’s six-week abortion ban.
Abortion providers in Texas requested that the U.S. Supreme Court send their legal challenge to the Texas Heartbeat Act back to a Federal District Court in Austin, where they have seen some success. In a 6-3 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected that request.
"With the 5th Circuit judges, and with the state's attorneys, and with the Supreme Court frankly, the strategy is to try to delay this as long as possible," said Amy Hagstrom Miller, CEO of Whole Woman’s Health who filed the legal challenge to the Texas Law.
On Tuesday the 5th Circuit Court sent the case to the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court.
