
Now that a Dallas developer has said no to the state's latest offer to buy his land, Texas now has to decide if it will move forward with plans to seize it.
The land is in Freestone County, about 80 miles southeast of Dallas, and it's the site of what used to be Fairfield Lake State Park.
Dallas developer Todd Interests bought the private property back in June and the state has been trying to get it's hand on it ever since.
They won't says what the state's latest offer was, only that they rejected it and are moving forward with plans to develop the land.
Texas Parks and Wildlife wants to take the land by eminent domain if no sale can be worked out. But Freestone County commissioners oppose that move and have asked the state to back off.
The Texas Parks & Wildlife department now has to decide if it will start to condemnation process to seize the land. No petition has yet been filed.
