The Padres lost to the Reds 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon, as Adrian Morejon allowed his first runs in nearly two weeks. The two teams alternated runs in the 1st inning, with Fernando Tatis Jr.'s solo homer in the 5th giving the Padres a 2-1 lead. Hector Rodriguez responded with a game-tying RBI-single in the bottom of the 5th, and the score would remain 2-2 entering the bottom of the 8th. Morejon issued a leadoff walk, followed by a single, before recording the first out of the inning. After an intentional walk to load the bases with one out, Jose Trevino lined an RBI-single to center field to give the Reds a 3-2 lead. Juan Brito added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly to give the Reds a 2-run cushion entering the 9th inning. Tatis Jr. hit a 2-out solo home run, his second of the game, to pull within one run, but Samad Taylor struck out to end the game. Casey Mize will start Wednesday's rubber match for the Padres.
