The plight of an avocado aficionado comes when trying to preserve a half of an avocado for the next day. Inevitably the creamy green had turn brown and mushy before you get a chance to use it. Rather than investing in a plastic container that you have to wash and store, you can wrap your avocado half in lettuce leaves. In particular the harder, outer leaves of a head of lettuce work best, which is great considering those are the leaves most people automatically discard. While a plastic container will work for a few days, the lettuce leaf offers a more sustainable solution, keeping the fruit moist for a week.
