Many times slow Internet can be blamed on your Wi-Fi router. Like all technology, each generation is an improvement over the last.  WiFi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) launched last year, which boasts faster speeds and better coverage than previous WiFi routers. WiFi 6 transfers data around 10 gigabits per second compared with WiFi 5’s (802.11ac) 7 gigabits per second, which if you've purchased your Wi-Fi router after 2013, was the standard. The new platform can also handle more items including smart TVs, gaming consoles, and laptops as well as internet-connected thermostats, security cameras, and speakers. Plus the new iPhone 12 and Dell G7 laptop take full advantage of WiFi 6. On average, WiFi 6 routers will cost about $100 more than WiFi 5 and considering it is the new standard and many retailers will be offering deals on electronics, it may be worth seeking out the WiFi 6 technology this year.
