Over 553 million Facebook users had their personal data stolen by hackers last weekend. This includes over 32 million Americans which reveal your name, the city you live in, your birthdate, email addresses and phone numbers, which are often used for two-factor authentication, to scammers, thieves and anyone who wants it. But how do you know if your data was part of the security breach? The website The News Each Day has a simple tool where you can input your phone number and see if it’s in the leak. All you do is enter your 10-digit phone number without hyphens/dashes and include a "1" at the beginning of your number. You can also do the same at the bit more trusted website, HaveIBeenPwned.com and include your phone number and/or email address to see if it’s part of any security breach, including the Facebook incident. Facebook hasn’t said much about the leak. Stolen Facebook data was available for sale in hacking forums a couple of years ago, but what makes this past weekend’s leak different is that the data is for free for anyone to access with a simple Google search.
