The demonstrations and information session were held by current and former law enforcement officers.
"This is a program that talks about how to be able to walk away from a battle you can afford to lose," said the organization's Charles Wilson. He explained the course they held earlier in the week at Bible Way Baptist Church dealt with how to deal with police when pulled over in a car, proper ways police can frisk you, and daily interactions with police on the street.
"We must get people in our communities better tools to deal with it," said Jamal Vann, who brought a group of young men to the meeting. He says the message and insight from the class can help make all the difference in someone's life.
Jabari Jones talked about the type of neighborhood interactions he felt were needed. "It's crucial in the time we're living in to actually have an interaction with the police officers that's positive," he said, "in a safe setting."
"It's a great forum to hear from the community," he added, "and also for the community to kind of discuss and come up with potential solutions."
