The Commonwealth Association of School Administrators — the teamsters local representing 650 principals and other leaders — posted the online petition over the weekend.
It criticized Hite’s performance on educating students, keeping them safe, and fiscal leadership. The petition has garnered nearly 2,000 signatures.
Hite was holding a Tuesday afternoon town hall meeting with principals, but he said he did not plan to bring up the petition.
“There are going to be lots of things I do as a leader that individuals will disagree with. I respect those disagreements,” Hite said. “I respect our principals because they’re doing significant work on a daily basis in our schools.”
Hite pointed out that the petition was an online posting and did not represent a vote by the principals’ union membership.
