PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — More than 14,000 bags of fentanyl will never make it to the streets, thanks to two sisters in Delaware.
She told NBC10 that they found the drugs on Sunday while walking in the woods in Radnor Green, a neighborhood in Claymont.
New Castle County police said the girls did the right thing when they discovered the stash in a couple of grocery bags — they didn’t touch the drugs. Instead, they called their parents, who called the cops.
“Knowing that it saved thousands of lives, I’m happy about it, because I know that me and her did a good thing,” one girl said.
The two bricks of fentanyl have a street value of around $140,000.
Police think someone was using the woods as a drop site.
New Castle County police added in a statement:
If you happen to be missing a significant quantity of fentanyl or have any information about who it may belong to, please contact the New Castle County Division of Police at 302-573-2800 or dial 911 in an emergency.
While we certainly are not expecting anyone to step forward to claim it, we always welcome any information that can help us keep our community safe.
