PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Volunteers from the nonprofit Feeding Everyone at Special Times (FEAST) spent their morning at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Warrington, Bucks County, preparing thousands of meals for those in need ahead of the Easter holiday.

FEAST Executive Director John Clauss says they packed up nearly 3,000 to-go boxes with all the Easter trimmings, like freshly sliced ham, homemade mac and cheese, as well as bread, corn and dessert.

Pick up for the meals, which had to be requested in advance on their website, is between 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, and those who have children are welcome to one of the 700 Easter baskets they crafted.

Clauss, who has been helping hand out holiday meals for more than 10 years, says online registration is essential for making sure they prepare with enough ingredients.

”When we made 100 meals it was easy to just go to the store and buy stuff … If you decided today you were going to make 3,000 meals, you couldn’t go to any supermarket, they wouldn’t have enough ham for you to buy,” he said. “You’re essentially running a restaurant – a very big restaurant for today.”

Clauss noted how much FEAST has grown over the years and how many people they’ve been able to reach because of that.

“... The important thing is, a small donation goes a long way with us because it goes directly to the people who need it.”

The organization is also hosting a Winter Soup and Sandwich Distribution on March 11. To register, check out their website.
