PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia has its third city controller in four months. Mayor Jim Kenney on Monday announced that he has appointed Charles Edacheril to replace Christy Brady, who resigned to run in the city controller primary election.

Brady is expected to announce her candidacy on Tuesday.

Kenney had appointed Brady in November to replace Rebecca Rhynhart, who resigned in October to run for mayor.

Under the city charter, city employees or officials -- such as Rhynhart and the five City Council members who are also running for mayor -- must resign from their position before they can run for a new office. Brady had to resign because she was appointed, not elected.

Brady has already received the endorsement of the city’s Democratic Party policy committee.
