PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Bill Cosby will remain behind bars in Montgomery County.
The minimum sentence on his aggravated indecent assault conviction was three years, meaning he is eligible for parole in September.
However, a Pennsylvania Parole Board spokeswoman says Cosby was denied parole because he has not taken part in court-mandated sexually violent predator courses and because he hasn’t developed a release plan.
Cosby’s spokesman released a statement saying the decision is no surprise to the 83-year-old entertainer, or anyone who knows him, because Cosby maintains his innocence.
The statement goes on to say Cosby is hopeful the Pennsylvania Supreme Court will vacate his conviction or grant him a new trial.
Cosby was convicted in 2018 in Montgomery County of drugging and sexually assaulting a Andrea Constand, a Temple University employee, at his Elkins Park home in 2004. He was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.
His lawyers argued his case before the state Supreme Court in December.
It's still not clear when he will be eligible for parole again.
