PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — She was left outside the Pennsylvania SPCA in Hunting Park inside a box that had been taped shut. Now, she has found her “perfect family.”
That's what officials with the rescue shared on Facebook Sunday after Tangi, the 9-month-old dog, was adopted.
She was found inside a sealed box on a cold Tuesday morning with a handwritten note taped to the outside of it that read, “I have no other option. It’s either eviction, or let the dog go. I have filled out adoption apps, but nothing has happened. Today was my last day, and my back is to the wall. She has all of her shots. Good dog. Her name is Tangi.”
Those who found her said she had “scared eyes, was shaking and so stressed that she was hyperventilating.”
“Throughout the day, during medical testing, behavioral exams, and every check we needed to do, Tangi just wanted to be near someone,” the rescue wrote in a Facebook post. “She followed staff closely, rested her head against anyone who knelt beside her, and cried when she was left alone. All she wanted was to feel safe.”
Tangi was on a “stray hold” in case an owner came forward. No one did, and on Dec. 11, she was officially put up for adoption. Just days later, she was adopted.
“We are so excited for her new chapter filled with love, snuggles, and adventures,” the shelter wrote in a post. “Happy life, sweet girl.”
The PSPCA said it sympathizes with the owner's circumstances, but it wants people to go into the shelter if they have to surrender an animal.
