PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has filed a lawsuit against a Fox Chase pharmacy that they claim was the top buyer of oxycodone in Pennsylvania.

The Feds allege Verree Pharmacy and its former owner Mitchell Spivack "put profits over people," giving out large quantities of opioids and "cocktail drugs" which they say resulted in at least one death.

They also say Spivack and employees created a code in their computer system they called BBDF, code for 'Bill But Don’t Fill,' to squeeze cash from Medicare and other Federal health programs, and they say Spivack raked in millions.

The government is seeking millions in penalties and damages.

No lawyer for the pharmacy is listed in court filings, and KYW Newsradio made several attempts to contact the pharmacy, but no one has gotten back to us.

Federal officials say that if you have any information regarding Verree Pharmacy or any other health care fraud allegation, call the HHS-OIG hotline at 800-HHS-TIPS.
