PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 26-year-old man was gunned down in Frankford on Thursday, in what police say was just the second homicide in Philadelphia so far this year.
Officers were called to the scene on Wakeling Street, between Hawthorne and Mulberry streets, at around 10:19 a.m. where they found the man with gunshot wounds throughout his body. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died moments later.
The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Parris Hall.
Police ask anyone with information to call homicide detectives or the department's tipline at 215-686-TIPS. They've offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
This is the second homicide in as many days at the start of 2025. Authorities say an unidentified man in his 30s was shot twice in the left shoulder and twice in the groin around 12:04 a.m. on New Year's Day. He was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead 14 minutes later.
Investigators are looking for suspects and working to determine a motive in that shooting.
Last year, there were 269 homicides in Philadelphia, the city's lowest number since 2014 and a more than 30% drop from 2023, when there were 409 homicides.
