More Philadelphia ATMs blown up during second night of unrest

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating at least seven ATM explosions at convenience stores and restaurants that took place between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Police say about six men tried to blow up an ATM inside Lee’s Kitchen at 29th Street and Girard Avenue in Brewerytown, and another one inside the Sunoco along Ridge Avenue in East Falls.

No money was taken from either site.

Police say a group also tried to blow up an ATM inside the Ridge Kitchen restaurant along Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion.

The city’s bomb squad also responded to similar incidents at a convenience store and deli on Germantown Avenue in North Philadelphia; a Conoco gas station in North Philadelphia; a Castor Avenue Wawa in Frankford; and in front of Greenman’s Deli on Robbins Street in Mayfair.

The ATF and detective divisions are continuing to investigate.
