PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has filed several charges against a man who was caught allegedly prowling outside his ex-girlfriend's house wearing night-vision goggles and armed with a loaded semi-automatic pistol purchased by an accomplice, who also faces several charges.
New Hanover Township police responded to a report of a prowler at a home along Colflesh Road around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 21.
When police arrived, they found 36-year-old Edward Cordenner III of Lansdale in the driveway of the home belonging to his former girlfriend, according to prosecutors. They say Cordenner was wearing night-vision goggles and in possession of a loaded 9mm Taurus G2c pistol and a loaded magazine.
Cordenner allegedly became combative and resisted arrest. He was ultimately handcuffed and taken into custody. He does not have a permit to carry a concealed gun and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm because of a prior felony conviction.
Officials say an investigation revealed 38-year-old Kristin Sweigard of Warminster purchased that handgun, as well as other firearms that were inside Cordenner's Lansdale residence.
Sweigard was arrested and charged with multiple felony counts related to the illegal purchase and sale of firearms. Cordenner is charged with a list of offenses including multiple felony counts of prowling at night, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm and resisting arrest.
